Water coolers are dispensers that chill and filter tap or bottled water. Their use in offices and places with a short supply of pure water is common. They are beneficial for avoiding water borne diseases. Filtered water is safe, healthy and as good as boiled water (if not better).

Water coolers help in protecting your health from bacteria and other water dwelling viruses and algae. It is therefore prudent to sanitise the coolers once every three months to ensure continuous supply of safe drinking water. In case of coolers that have been non functional for a long time, sanitising it is advisable.

Steps to sanitise your water cooler

Mentioned below are some steps to sanitise your water cooler.

Step 1: Shut off all water supplies to the water coolers by closing the water inlet pipe.

Step 2: Removing filters is important as having a unclean carbon filter would defeat the whole purpose of sanitising the water cooler.

Step 3: Pour the sanitiser fluid in the containers and refit it.

Step 4: Empty the cooler tanks and ensure that the sanitising fluid is completely drained out.

The same process can be carried out for bottled water coolers. You just have to remove the mounted water bottle.

It is prudent to replace the filter in the water cooler once every six months to avoid health problems related to impure water. You can use the water coolers immediately after the sanitising process is over.

Water is one of the essential needs of living beings therefore it is mandatory to ensure safety while drinking water from water coolers.
