The Lifeline Fund, who have been saving lives and helping orphaned children for more than ten years now, have embarked upon their latest project – their 10th orphan daycare centre.
There are Lifeline Fund centres scattered throughout some of the poorest and most isolated rural parts of Malawi. The charity’s biggest success story is the Namisu Orphan Village, which accommodated around 130 children after it was built in 1999.
Speaking of what he intended for the first orphan village in Namisu, the Lifeline Fund founder and coordinator John R. Searle said:
“In 1999, I was asked exactly what kind of village I had in mind. The answer? Simple! – A happy and safe village.”
He and his organisation have certainly achieved that, as the Namisu Orphan Village is now a thriving community catering to more than 1,000 vulnerable children and adults.
Lifeline’s nine orphan daycare centres – located throughout the region – now accommodate a total number of more than 2,000 children. Once completed, the tenth orphan daycare centre will add 150 children to the number whose lives have been made brighter and more hopeful by the Lifeline Fund.
