The Lifeline Fund have been working incredibly hard recently on construction for the new Daycare Centre for Disabled Children on the outskirts of the Namisu Orphan Village in Malawi. Volunteers from the Fund have been collaborating with local carpenters and tradesmen to produce the most high-quality functional facility possible with the means at their disposal, and thanks to months of hard work and many generous donations, the Daycare Centre for Disabled Children is now officially open.
The centre now welcomes in 40 disabled children per day, all of whom benefit from safe and purpose-built facilities. In addition to the main centre, which consists of a principal building, enclosed play area and storeroom, the Lifeline Fund have also added:
• Separate toilets and washhouse for boys and girls
• A freshly drilled borehole, so that the children can have instant access to clean, safe water for drinking and bathing
• An outside playground, which is currently being fitted with swings with safety gates to prevent unnecessary accidents
• A purpose-built kitchen
• A chicken house containing 20 hybrid layers, which produce around 17 to 18 eggs daily in order to supplement the children’s diet
